A different appreciation of the Contact Movie, based on Carl Sagan award winning novel. These is a great movie we almost forgot. Is still there to watch, DO IT yourself a favor and watch it again.
AN AWFUL WASTE OF SPACE
Don’t get me wrong just for the title of these article. Im just honoring one of the smartest and catchy phrases on the movie dialog. These movie is many things but not a waste of space or time (yes space and time matters in these subject). It is beautiful, smart and inspiring. At the same time it shown most of the terrible behaviors that make our civilization such a pain in the ass some times.
How in the world we can become the most greedy beans when something meaningful is discovered, also how we can become such a bunch of cowards when is time to embrace change or new challenges.
These movie is based on Carl Sagan’s novel and of course a live action film have to be adapted to deploy a different kind of language, i’m not a film critic, but i’m a film enthusiasts, some times technical expertise it not the best approach to describe some pieces of art. For the regular human been it can be resumed in just few sentences and some specific words I wrote down during my viewing of the movie.
Human Nature and Ambition
A scientist make a definitive and life changing discovery on the context of the SETI (search of extraterrestrial Intelligence). We are not alone, there’s proof of the existence of a highly technological civilization witch sent a message across the space. We discover detailed instructions to build kind of time/space travel vessel.
Power and hope
As soon as these discovery got public, federal authorities take control and a game of power and control begin. Finally and international consortium push a project to sent a human being to another system for the very first time. I’m not going to give more details. You should take the time to watch the movie. Im sure if you never saw it you will enjoy it, and if you already saw it, its rewarding to revisit a classic, because these is a classic movie, with the same great soul of a back to the future or Forest Gump. It’s Robert Zemeckis stuff, guys it’s a sure shot!
Hope and meaning, Delusion and hate, Faith and Future.
Those are some of the things you will see over these great history. At some point I remember why my my career begins, why I put some much effort on things nobody understand. These film make me remember what passion for discovery is. In some moments I remember parts of my past projects, the hard times, the exiting moments, and the reason I do everything, why I search for meaning in Life and the true, the new discovery, the interesting fact, the constant movement of life in pursuit of a goal: To be a true, complete and emotional and intellectually developed human being.
Enjoy it and feel young and inspired again. Take the chance.
