Storyline

57 years after Ellen Ripley had a close encounter with the reptilian alien creature from the first movie, she is called back, this time, to help a group of highly trained colonial marines fight off against the sinister extraterrestrials. But this time, the aliens have taken over a space colony on the moon LV-426. When the colonial marines are called upon to search the deserted space colony, they later find out that they are up against more than what they bargained for. Using specially modified machine guns and enough firepower, it’s either fight or die as the space marines battle against the aliens. As the Marines do their best to defend themselves, Ripley must attempt to protect a young girl who is the sole survivor of the nearly wiped out space colony. Written by blazesnakes9

Trivia

Aliens is the only film in the series for which special effects legend Stan Winston did the special effects, and won him his first Oscar. For Alien³ (1992) and Alien: Resurrection (1997), the torch was handed to his former employees Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff Jr., who had started their own company, Amalgamated Dynamics Inc. Goofs

When the drop-ship is lowered into the airlock, it is held in place by a number of arms lowering it from the ceiling. Presumably the inner airlock doors close round these arms, which continue to hold it prior to release. However the outer airlock doors open below the ship just a few seconds later, without enough time for the airlock to have been evacuated to anything close to a vacuum. See more »

Crazy Credits

The ALIENS title forms slowly during the opening credits. The full title isn’t seen until the opening credits are finished, and the “I” illuminates brightly. See more »

Alternate Versions

An additional scene shows Ripley searching for Newt and finding Burke who has been cocooned and impregnated. Burke begs Ripley to shoot him, instead she hands him a grenade. This scene was filmed (some magazines printed a few shots taken from it), but it does not appear in any version of the film, because Burke, given the established timetable, would have still had the facehugger attached to his face.
